While I guess I can agree with your comment about a plant-based diet since I'm largely a vegetarian myself (a lacto-ovo-vegetarian to be precise), I see no reason why non-vegetarians in the First World (or anywhere else, for that matter) should be forced to give up their meat-based diet. Sure, a completely voluntary shift would be fine, as would a policy to reduce wastage and energy intensive food production, but is this the only solution to the problem? In other words, many poor people starve because they CANNOT AFFORD to have three square meals a day :-( In reality, it's a problem that is caused by poverty :-( and disgusting government policies :-x While the First World must play its part in reducing wastage and over-consumption, the Third World too must play its part by reducing poverty, corruption and stop their people from breeding at alarming rates :shock: There is a limit to how many greedy human creatures that Mother Earth can support. While I guess I can agree with your comment about a plant-based diet since I’m largely a vegetarian myself (a lacto-ovo-vegetarian to be precise), I see no reason why non-vegetarians in the First World (or anywhere else, for that matter) should be forced to give up their meat-based diet.
