Major humanitarian crisis in Sri Lanka: Red Cross

A report from the ICRC about the humanitarian situation in Sri Lanka:

Sri Lanka: Major humanitarian crisis unfolding

Colombo / Geneva (ICRC) – Hundreds of people have been killed and scores of wounded are overwhelming understaffed and ill-equipped medical facilities in Sri Lanka’s northern Vanni region, following intensified fighting between the Sri Lanka Security Forces and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE).

“People are being caught in the crossfire, hospitals and ambulances have been hit by shelling and several aid workers have been injured while evacuating the wounded. The violence is preventing the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) from operating in the region,” said Jacques de Maio, ICRC head of operations for South Asia in Geneva.

The terrified population is in need of protection, medical care and basic assistance, according to the ICRC.

An estimated 250,000 people are trapped in a 250 square-kilometre area which has come under intense fighting. They have no safe area to take shelter and are unable to flee.

“When the dust settles, we may see countless victims and a terrible humanitarian situation, unless civilians are protected and international humanitarian law is respected in all circumstances,” said Mr de Maio. “It’s high time to take decisive action and stop further bloodshed because time is running out.”

The ICRC urgently appeals to both sides to allow and facilitate the safe and voluntary movement of civilians out of the combat zone.

The ICRC is determined to stay as long as possible in the Vanni, but the parties must respect its presence and its work. Humanitarian assistance must be allowed to enter the Vanni and aid workers and their premises must be protected from shelling and looting, as required by international humanitarian law.

Both sides are strongly urged to spare the lives of those not, or no longer, taking direct part in the fighting. Hundreds of patients need emergency treatment and evacuation to Vavuniya Hospital in the government-controlled area.

The ICRC, which is the only international aid agency to have remained permanently in the Vanni over the past four months with the agreement of both sides, continues to work alongside the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society helping those in need.

Why the hell is the international media not reporting this??? What’s wrong with those pigs? Can they not even report a press release by the Red Cross? They are the only ones who are actually in the killing zone!!!

Genocide in Sri Lanka: 300 killed, 1000 injured in continuous shelling on a “safe zone”

A humanitarian disaster of unimaginable proportions is being perpetrated in Sri Lanka by a genocidal rogue regime that is intent on killing civilians trapped in a zone that was declared “safe” for civilians. More than 300 people were butchered by artillery and rocket attacks on civilians and more than 1000 have been injured and in desperate need of medical help. There are just 9 doctors in the hospital and they have almost no emergency supplies to treat the injured. Following is the text of appeal by the Regional Director of Health Services of Mullaitivu District, who works for the government:

Human Catastrophe & Medical Emergency in the Vanni

Heavy fighting and continuous multi-barrel artillery shelling has resulted in more
than 300 internally displaced persons being killed and over 1000 hundred injured
in Suthanthirapuram, Udaiyaarkaddu, and Vallipuram in the Mullaitivu District.
We are making an URGENT APPEAL to the Government of Sri Lanka, ICRC, the UN,
and the international community for medical supplies and medical teams to be sent to
the District to assist our staff. We currently only have 9 MMBS Doctors.
The nature of the injuries and the number of the injuries is such that if these medical
supplies do not arrive in the next 24 hours many of the injured will die.

If the bloody fat pigs in the United Nations and the filthy International Community who are responsible for taking care of civilians trapped in the conflict do not take immediate action to halt the genocide now and provide help to the injured, it shall go down in history as a case of intentional genocide being perpetrated with the help of the United Nations and the International Community. Shame on the filthy, dirty, barbaric, inhuman swine in the so-called “civilised world”! They did not take steps to prevent the genocide when they were warned. If they don’t take steps to steps to stop it now and treat the injured immediately, the blood of so many people shall stain the souls of the bastards in the “international community” who are watching this with sadistic glee and they shall pay for it! Mark my words, the filthy pigs that play an active and passive role in this genocide shall pay for this!!!

Speak the truth and get murdered; blatantly lie and get rewarded!

This is a post about two kinds of journalism under extremely different circumstances. First, a salute to several independent journalists who dared to speak the truth about one of the most evil, fascist, genocidal regimes in world history and have paid the price for it. Under an evil, barbaric, murderous regime that has crushed all norms of decency, democracy, human rights and civilised behaviour, several journalists have dared to uphold the norms of unbiased journalism, publishing the facts and questioning reports dished out by the war criminals running the government.

First, one of the greatest journalists in the world, Lasantha Wickramatunge, the editor of The Sunday Leader, who was always known for his unbiased journalism, one who dared to expose corruption and crimes of any regime in Sri Lanka. He was on the hit-list of the murderous Rajapaksa goons’ regime for some time. He paid the ultimate price, when he was attacked viciously and then shot dead as he was driving to work by a government death squad, similar to the ones that are used to butcher innocent Tamil civilians in many parts of Sri Lanka:

Image: www.dailymirror.lk

Lasantha was not just an honest journalist, but an extremely intelligent man. He knew his life was in danger for he had predicted his own death at the hands of a government death squad and had written an article and saved it on his computer, to be published after the the scum beings killed him. He puts the blame squarely on the Rajapaksa regime. Read the full article here. Here are some excerpts (emphasis added):

No other profession calls on its practitioners to lay down their lives for their art save the armed forces and, in Sri Lanka, journalism. In the course of the past few years, the independent media have increasingly come under attack. Electronic and print-media institutions have been burnt, bombed, sealed and coerced. Countless journalists have been harassed, threatened and killed. It has been my honour to belong to all those categories and now especially the last……We find ourselves in the midst of a civil war ruthlessly prosecuted by protagonists whose bloodlust knows no bounds. Terror, whether perpetrated by terrorists or the state, has become the order of the day. Indeed, murder has become the primary tool whereby the state seeks to control the organs of liberty. Today it is the journalists, tomorrow it will be the judges. For neither group have the risks ever been higher or the stakes lower……Why then do we do it? I often wonder that. After all, I too am a husband, and the father of three wonderful children. I too have responsibilities and obligations that transcend my profession, be it the law or journalism. Is it worth the risk? Many people tell me it is not……But there is a calling that is yet above high office, fame, lucre and security. It is the call of conscience. The Sunday Leader has been a controversial newspaper because we say it like we see it: whether it be a spade, a thief or a murderer, we call it by that name. We do not hide behind euphemism. The investigative articles we print are supported by documentary evidence thanks to the public-spiritedness of citizens who at great risk to themselves pass on this material to us. We have exposed scandal after scandal, and never once in these 15 years has anyone proved us wrong or successfully prosecuted us……Every newspaper has its angle, and we do not hide the fact that we have ours. Our commitment is to see Sri Lanka as a transparent, secular, liberal democracy…

…The Sunday Leader has never sought safety by unquestioningly articulating the majority view. Let’s face it, that is the way to sell newspapers. On the contrary, as our opinion pieces over the years amply demonstrate, we often voice ideas that many people find distasteful. For example, we have consistently espoused the view that while separatist terrorism must be eradicated, it is more important to address the root causes of terrorism, and urged government to view Sri Lanka’s ethnic strife in the context of history and not through the telescope of terrorism. We have also agitated against state terrorism in the so-called war against terror, and made no secret of our horror that Sri Lanka is the only country in the world routinely to bomb its own citizens. For these views we have been labelled traitors, and if this be treachery, we wear that label proudly……Neither should our distaste for the war be interpreted to mean that we support the Tigers. The LTTE are among the most ruthless and bloodthirsty organisations ever to have infested the planet. There is no gainsaying that it must be eradicated. But to do so by violating the rights of Tamil citizens, bombing and shooting them mercilessly, is not only wrong but shames the Sinhalese, whose claim to be custodians of the dhamma is forever called into question by this savagery, much of which is unknown to the public because of censorship. What is more, a military occupation of the country’s north and east will require the Tamil people of those regions to live eternally as second-class citizens, deprived of all self respect. Do not imagine that you can placate them by showering “development” and “reconstruction” on them in the post-war era. The wounds of war will scar them forever, and you will also have an even more bitter and hateful Diaspora to contend with. A problem amenable to a political solution will thus become a festering wound that will yield strife for all eternity. If I seem angry and frustrated, it is only because most of my countrymen – and all of the government – cannot see this writing so plainly on the wall.

It is well known that I was on two occasions brutally assaulted, while on another my house was sprayed with machine-gun fire. Despite the government’s sanctimonious assurances, there was never a serious police inquiry into the perpetrators of these attacks, and the attackers were never apprehended. In all these cases, I have reason to believe the attacks were inspired by the government. When finally I am killed, it will be the government that kills me.

The irony in this is that, unknown to most of the public, Mahinda and I have been friends for more than a quarter century…

…In the wake of my death I know you will make all the usual sanctimonious noises and call upon the police to hold a swift and thorough inquiry. But like all the inquiries you have ordered in the past, nothing will come of this one, too. For truth be told, we both know who will be behind my death, but dare not call his name. Not just my life, but yours too, depends on it.

Sadly, for all the dreams you had for our country in your younger days, in just three years you have reduced it to rubble. In the name of patriotism you have trampled on human rights, nurtured unbridled corruption and squandered public money like no other President before you. Indeed, your conduct has been like a small child suddenly let loose in a toyshop. That analogy is perhaps inapt because no child could have caused so much blood to be spilled on this land as you have, or trampled on the rights of its citizens as you do. Although you are now so drunk with power that you cannot see it, you will come to regret your sons having so rich an inheritance of blood. It can only bring tragedy. As for me, it is with a clear conscience that I go to meet my Maker. I wish, when your time finally comes, you could do the same. I wish.

As for me, I have the satisfaction of knowing that I walked tall and bowed to no man. And I have not travelled this journey alone. Fellow journalists in other branches of the media walked with me: most of them are now dead, imprisoned without trial or exiled in far-off lands. Others walk in the shadow of death that your Presidency has cast on the freedoms for which you once fought so hard. You will never be allowed to forget that my death took place under your watch. As anguished as I know you will be, I also know that you will have no choice but to protect my killers: you will see to it that the guilty one is never convicted. You have no choice. I feel sorry for you, and Shiranthi will have a long time to spend on her knees when next she goes for Confession for it is not just her owns sins which she must confess, but those of her extended family that keeps you in office.

As for the readers of The Sunday Leader, what can I say but Thank You for supporting our mission. We have espoused unpopular causes, stood up for those too feeble to stand up for themselves, locked horns with the high and mighty so swollen with power that they have forgotten their roots, exposed corruption and the waste of your hard-earned tax rupees, and made sure that whatever the propaganda of the day, you were allowed to hear a contrary view. For this I – and my family – have now paid the price that I have long known I will one day have to pay. I am – and have always been – ready for that. I have done nothing to prevent this outcome: no security, no precautions. I want my murderer to know that I am not a coward like he is, hiding behind human shields while condemning thousands of innocents to death. What am I among so many? It has long been written that my life would be taken, and by whom. All that remains to be written is when.

That The Sunday Leader will continue fighting the good fight, too, is written. For I did not fight this fight alone. Many more of us have to be – and will be – killed before The Leader is laid to rest. I hope my assassination will be seen not as a defeat of freedom but an inspiration for those who survive to step up their efforts. Indeed, I hope that it will help galvanise forces that will usher in a new era of human liberty in our beloved motherland. I also hope it will open the eyes of your President to the fact that however many are slaughtered in the name of patriotism, the human spirit will endure and flourish. Not all the Rajapakses combined can kill that…

If you remember nothing else, remember this: The Leader is there for you, be you Sinhalese, Tamil, Muslim, low-caste, homosexual, dissident or disabled. Its staff will fight on, unbowed and unafraid, with the courage to which you have become accustomed. Do not take that commitment for granted. Let there be no doubt that whatever sacrifices we journalists make, they are not made for our own glory or enrichment: they are made for you. Whether you deserve their sacrifice is another matter. As for me, God knows I tried.

Lasantha, in happier times…

Lasantha was not the first to be killed, nor will he be the last. Just a few days before this attack, MTV/MBC/ Sirasa the most popular television station in Sri Lanka that ran several television and radio channels in three languages (Sinhala, Tamil and English), was destroyed with explosives and by gunfire by one of those infamous “white van” death squads of the Sri Lankan government.

After Lasantha’s death, the editor of Rivira, a Sinhala weekly that was known for its neutral views, Upali Tennakoon and his wife were brutally assaulted by a gang of knife wielding scum on motorcycles. Both the editor and his wife suffered several knife cuts.

Today, Lal Hemantha Mawalage, news producer at state-run Television station, Rupavahini, has been admitted to the Colombo General Hospital after being attacked with machete and knives by unknown assailants at 11:30 p.m. Friday while walking in Athurugiriya in Colombo, sources in Colombo said. Mr Mawalage suffered injuries to both hands and body, according to his relatives. The attackers are suspected to be allied to non-cabinet Minister of Labour Mervin Silva who was involved in an altercation at Rupavahini on 26 December.

Informed sources said Minister Silva was irked by the actions of Mr Mawalage who had allegedly commended his fellow journalists at Rupavahini for helping to defend his news editor collegue, T.M.G Chandrasekara, when the Minister attacked him.

If this is the fate of independent Sinhala journalists, then that of Tamil journalists, is worse. Not only do the Tamil journalists of the fascist state risk their lives, but they risk infinite detention without trial and torture.

Several of them have been murdered in cold blood, like Sivaram and Nadesan. Others like Tissainayagam are detained infinitely without trial under draconian laws and tortured.

Tissainayagam started news-website called OutreachSL.com using a grant from FLICT (Foundation for Local Initiatives in Conflict Transformation). FLICT is a Sri Lankan based grant making body funded by the international community (primarily the German government). FLICT funds civic and government initiatives including the government’s Peace Secretariat.

Tissainayagam apprehended by TID (Terrorist Investigation Department) and all staff of the website were apprehended by the TID. Since then, the fascist thugs have kept in detention and tortured him without being given a chance of trial.

The German ambassador, Juergen Weerth, had this to say at the funeral of Lasantha Wickrematunge…

“Today is a day when one remains speechless,” Weerth said at the funeral Monday. “Maybe we should have spoken before this. Today it is too late.”

“Today is a day when humanity has lost a major voice of truth. But he will live in his work,” AFP report said quoting the Ambassador.

Six former US ambassadors have expressed the same in a letter to the leader of the fascist regime.

Paris-based media watchdog Reporters Without Borders said Rajapakse’s government was directly to blame for the death of the editor as it had “incited hatred against him.”

Four more media personnel have been forced to flee Sri Lanka fearing for their lives. They are Sanath Balasuriya and Poddala Jayantha of Lake House, Sunanda Deshapriya and Uvindu Kurukulasuriya of the Free Media Movement. Last week Upul Joseph Fernando of the Lankadeepa, Rathnapala Gamage of Lankadeepa, and Chevan Daniel of MTV left the country. In addition, Iqbal Athas, Keith Noyahr, Namal Perera and Anuruddha Lokuhappuarachchi had already left the country.

Now, to the second part of this post. I do not want to demean or dishonour the honest, sincere, persons who have laid down their lives in defence of the ethics and principles of journalism in a banana republic ruled by fascist, genocidal thugs, by posting something about a person who is paid by the fascist regime to act as its mouthpiece in a neighbouring country where the press are supposed to be “free”. Free, as in free to take huge amounts of money and receive a few “awards” from the fascist goons. Of course, it’s the infamous sewer jounalist of Chennai, Mr. N. Ram, the editor-in-chief of The Hindu, and his bunch of liars, who have been publishing “news” about the genocide in Sri Lanka by faithfully reproducing every single word that the war criminals have been dishing out to him. For this toilet paper, there are no civilians killed in this genocide, when the fact is that hundreds are being killed everyday in “safe zones”, hospitals and ambulances being bombed from the air and with artillery and multi-barrel rocket launchers. For these filthy scum journalists, there is no attack on the media when it is a fact that tens of journalists have been murdered and assaulted and the fact that Sri Lanka is the second most deadly place for journalists in the entire world. All because of this:

The sewer journalist N. Ram receiving an “honour” from the fascist regime…
2005111517191402

This vile liar has received the same award from the murderer-in-chief of the current genocidal regime as well as an award by a government run body that praised “his service to journalism in Asia”. There exists no word in the English language or any language in the world, to describe a “journalist” who is awarded for “journalism” by a fascist, genocidal regime that ranks 165th out of 173 countries in Press Freedom and the country where the second largest number of journalists are brutally murdered or maimed for doing their work.

Journalists who dare to speak the truth get murdered but sewer journalists who blatantly lie get rewarded. These are the sad facts about journalism in Sri Lanka.

It’s time to act, Chief Minister!

The Tamil Nadu Assembly has passed a resolution, a “final appeal” in fact, to the central government to halt the genocidal violence in Sri Lanka and find a peaceful solution to the conflict by means of talks.

This is the third such resolution. The first two had fallen on stone deaf ears. The wording of the resolution is unnecessarily polite, by making an “appeal”. Instead, it should have been an ultimatum and it should have been made clear in no uncertain terms. The UPA government at the centre has been playing the fool in this genocidal carnage all along, paying lip service about the civilians trapped in the conflict, yet providing covert assistance by means of providing arms and training to the fascist genocidal regime in the island nation.

Another person who has been playing the fool by trying to hoodwink his people is the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Mr. M. Karunanidhi. Having threatened to ask all the Members of Parliament from Tamil Nadu to resign en masse if the centre does not act, he inexplicably withdrew his threat despite no change in the stand of the UPA government. The Chief Minister needs to make it clear in no uncertain terms that the MPs of Tamil Nadu cannot be a part of a government that abets the genocidal Rajapaksa regime in Sri Lanka. Even if one discounts the seven Congress MPs from Tamil Nadu in the Lower House, the resignation of the remaining thirty three or withdrawal of support to the UPA regime would mean that the government would collapse. It may not mean much since general elections are due later this year, but this is not a question of elections and politics. It’s much, much more important than that.

Hundreds of thousands of people are in danger of being wiped out by the Sinhala war criminals and there is the danger of millions of Tamils being ethnically cleansed from the island by the Sinhala fascist thugs who have made a mockery of democracy and civilised behaviour. Former US diplomats feel the same about democracy in the island. After the destruction of a television station and the brutal murder of the fearless editor Lasantha Wickramatunga by a government sponsored death squad, the editor of a Sinhala weekly Rivira and his wife were severely assaulted. Following this, seven respected senior journalists have fled Sri Lanka, fearing for their lives from government death squads. If this is the fate of Sinhala journalists, the plight of Tamil civilians in the country can only be imagined. Of course, the filthy sewer journalist, Mr. N. Ram of The Hindu, can be proud of the award that he received from his paymasters in a regime that has butchered journalists and made them flee for their lives.

The Eelam Tamil diaspora around the world is waging a heroic struggle to bring the the genocide to the attention of the world:

(If the video does not load, you can watch it here.)

The Malaysian Indian community has expressed its outrage at the genocide and the hypocrisy of the Indian government in calling for a ceasefire in Gaza while aiding the genocide in Sri Lanka.

As for the people of Tamil Nadu, they made their anger very clear in the massive human chain organised in pouring rain:

(If the video does not load, you can watch it here.)

Actors and lawyers have already expressed their outrage at the continuing violence against innocent civilians. Students have joined the protest by boycotting classes and expressing solidarity:

student_20090122004

The main placard reads: We are with you forever.

The German Foreign Minister, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, has called for a ceasefire and humanitarian aid for the affected civilians. A Catholic priest has written to the United Nations Secretary General, describing the plight of innocent people trapped in the genocide zone:

The letter of the Rev Father Pathinathar to the Secretary General of the United Nations:

The Agonising Cry of the People of Wanni, Sri-Lanka

We the Roman Catholic Priests and Religious serving the people in Wanni, the theatre of on-going vicious battles, make the following ardent and urgent appeal.

1. The “uncleared” area of Wanni which consisted of Killinochchi, Mullaitivu, parts of Mannar, parts of Jaffna and parts of Vavuniya districts has now shrunken to parts of the Mullaitivu district alone, as a result of the on-going military operations carried out by the
Sri Lankan security forces against the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE)

2. About 491,000 people from the above-mentioned districts are now forced to live in the shrunken Mullaitivu district alone. Day after day, displacements continue unabated, as a result of the aggressive artillery poundings and aerial bombardments in and around civilian
settlements.

3. In these indiscriminate attacks, babies in mothers’ wombs, infants, children, women and men, young and old are killed and maimed and wounded everyday. Even schools, hospitals, places of worship, civilian settlements etc., the security and safety of which are guaranteed in the Geneva Convention on the Conduct of War, are not spared in this aggressive war.

4. The merciless Economic Embargo imposed on Wanni and the Eviction of the INGOs worsen the predicament of the innocent civilians. A shortage in fuel, food supply, medicines, shelter materials and drinking water weigh heavily upon an already beleaguered people.

5. As the geographical territory occupied by the people keep on shrinking daily, it is becoming almost impossible for the people even to move towards “safer” areas, away from the battle fields. A GREAT HUMAN TRAGEDY HAS EXPLODED IN WANNI. Such a gruesome experience is unprecedented in the recent history of these people.

6. In times of war, the parties to the conflict, particularly the Government which is a signatory to the Geneva Convention on the conduct of war has the bounden duty to uphold the Convention. The safety and security and human dignity of the innocent civilians cannot and should not be trampled upon by anyone, particularly by the Government, waging a war.

7. What is at the root of this on going war is the STRUCTURAL INJUSTICE, a vehement denial of EQUALITY and DIGNITY of the Sri Lankan Tamils, perpetrated by the successive Sinhala dominated Governments of Sri Lanka for decades.

8. Therefore, we earnestly urge Your Excellency to take immediate action to stop this senseless war and put an end to the untold sufferings of the innocent civilians in Wanni whose life has become a real struggle for survival. And kindly take the necessary steps to bring the parties to the conflict to the negotiating table in order to find a humane and just and lasting political solution to the ethnic conflict in Sri Lanka.

Signed Rev Fr. James Pathinathar,
On behalf of the Priests and Religious of Wanni

It should be clear to the Chief Minister that the actions of the Indian government are impeding a ceasefire in Sri Lanka and playing a passive role in the genocide. This is not the time for politics. The people of Tamil Nadu cannot be fooled by any drama. The Prime Minister’s health should not and cannot be an excuse for inaction. While they wish Dr. Manmohan Singh well and hope he recovers quickly, there is a humanitarian catastrophe taking place a few kilometres from their shores. Mr. Karunanidhi should not worrying about staying in power. The people of Tamil Nadu are seething in anger. From the elected representatives of the people of Tamil Nadu, the message to the central government should be loud and clear:

The Tamils of Sri Lanka are facing genocide…the small Eelam Tamil diaspora is waging a heroic struggle to highlight the plight of people in the genocide zone…the people of Tamil Nadu shall not let their brethren feel orphaned…they cannot be mute spectators when a rogue fascist regime is annihilating their brothers and sisters…and their representatives should be prepared for anything…the time to act is NOW…before it’s bloody too late!!!

A genocide most foul!

Even as I type this, a rogue regime is committing genocide against its own people with the full knowledge and assistance of world governments. The Sinhala fascist pseudo-Buddhist thugs in the Sri Lankan government are systematically butchering the Tamil civilians in the genocide zone in the Vanni region in North-East Sri Lanka with artillery fire, multi-barrel rocket launchers and indiscriminate aerial bombardment of civilian areas by using the banned cluster bombs.

A genocide in which no one is spared…the Chencholai massacre in which 61 schoolgirls were killed…heinous incidents like these are all too common in the ongoing genocide in the Island of Terror…

14_08_06_chencholai

The rogue Sinhala regime of Sri Lanka led by the genocidal maniacs – the Rajapakse brothers and the war criminal Sarath Fonseka have unleashed a state sponsored terror campaign in the name of fighting the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) rebels. The LTTE is fighting a conventional and guerrilla war for an independent Tamil homeland in the North-East of Sri Lanka due to decades of state sponsored massacres, pogroms, mass murders, abductions, rapes, torture and other inhuman atrocities heaped on the Tamil civilians who have been denied their legitimate rights by successive Sinhala governments that have carried out a systematic program of ethnic cleansing in the areas inhabited by minorities – Tamils and Muslims. These crimes were taking place long before the LTTE even came into existence.

The Sinhala fascist criminals have successfully hoodwinked the world that they are fighting a so-called “war on terror” against the LTTE that is banned in several countries. It’s neither a war nor an anti-terrorist operation by any stretch of the imagination. It’s systematic, programmed genocide and nothing less. Read this post and this one to find out more. The fascist regime is determined not to find a political solution to the problem by means of talks. The criminals running the government in Colombo are not even prepared to devolve minimum powers to democratically elected provincial councils, let alone autonomy or a federal solution. Instead, they have vile designs of ethnically cleansing the areas inhabited by minorities for millenia and settling people from outside by driving out the minority communities from their own homelands and ruthlessly killing, starving, abducting, torturing and murdering them.

The rogue regime does not even spare hospitals, orphanages and aid workers. No reporters or humanitarian workers are allowed anywhere near the genocide zone. Instead, it has paid huge amounts of money by means of advertisements and bestowing “awards” upon gutter journalists like N. Ram of The Hindu and his coterie of vile liars who act as the mouthpiece of the genocidal regime just as they act as the mouthpiece of the genocidal regimes in Sudan, Zimbabwe, Myanmar and the Chinese Communist Pigs. The scoundrels running the toilet paper of Chennai have even gone to the extent of questioning the human rights of civilians. The shameless international media does not care to present the truth or verify the facts before publishing handouts given by the murderers.

Honest journalists who dare to protest the mass killings of civilians are slaughtered by means of government death squads, just like lawyers who defend falsely accused persons and scores of innocent civilians. The greatest journalist in all of South Asia and indeed, one of the most fearless journalists in the world, Lasantha Wickramatunge, the editor of The Sunday Leader who happens to be a Sinhala Buddhist, was gruesomely murdered by government hired scum beings recently. In a final act of courageous and selfless journalism, the editor spoke from his grave and predicted his own murder by the genocidal government (Read this moving posthumous editorial, a piece of golden journalism). Just days earlier, a television station, MTV/MBC, that courageously resisted broadcasting the lies of the rogue regime was ransacked and completely destroyed. All this happened immediately after the murderer-in-chief of the rogue Sinhala fascist pseudo-Buddhist state, Mahinda Rajapaksa, took direct control of the media ministry. Sri Lanka is ranked 165 in a list of 173 countries by Reporters sans Frontières (Reporters without Borders) in terms of Press Freedom and the safety of journalists.

Sri Lanka is also listed as a genocide ‘hotspot’, one of eight countries in the world where genocide is happening or is about to happen, by noble organisations who work to prevent genocide.

(If the video does not load, you can watch it here.)

Well, the genocide is already under way. A helpless, severely persecuted minority is being annihilated with the help of world governments who make strange bedfellows in this genocide. The murderous Zionist regime sells fighter jets and cluster munitions to the Sinhala war criminals. The largest donor of financial aid to the fascist regime is the thuggish theocracy in Iran. The pilots of the fascist regime are trained to bomb civilians by its close defence partner and comrade-in-arms, Pakistan. The majority of the ammunition of the genocidal regime is supplied by the CCP criminals in China. The scoundrels controlling the Indian government’s policy chip in with tremendous covert assistance and provide arms and training to the genocidal regime to annihilate the minorities despite massive protests by its own people and a unanimous, democratic resolution to end the conflict by finding a peaceful, political solution. The governments of the West play a passive role in all this by paying lip service to the safety of civilians and at the same time, collaborating with the war criminals running the military.

The Sinhala army is one of the most cowardly, indisciplined forces in the whole world. Even among the filthy armies that use rape as a part of war strategy, the Sinhala thugs are the worst. They were thrown out of a U.N. peacekeeping mission in Haiti because of the presence of numerous cowardly rapists in their ranks. In an environment where they have complete immunity from war crimes, the heinous crimes they commit against the helpless civilians can only be imagined.

The barbaric Sinhala fascist pseudo-Buddhist thugs have just bombed a civilian hospital in a declared “safe zone” to smithereens and butchered hundreds of people and wounded thousands in a matter of days in the genocide zone. If the world and the United Nations do not act now to prevent the ongoing genocide, the power brokers, wheeler dealers, politicians and bureaucrats would be guilty of abetting genocide. In a world that cannot bring the real terrorists hiding in mountainous caves in the Pak-Afghan border to book, the term “war on terror” is misused by filthy scoundrels to carry out genocide with the full backing and knowledge of world governments and the United Nations. The criminals who commit genocide as well as those who aid and abet these heinous crimes against humanity shall not get away with it! Some way or the other, they shall get their comeuppance in the days to come! The mightiest empires in world history have collapsed like a pack of cards and descended into anarchy in the months and years following almost every known genocide. The filthy empires, wannabe empires, murderous states and regimes that play a role in this heinous genocide against a severely oppressed people shall face a similar fate, if not worse!!!

Anti-Israel protests erupt around the world

As opposed to the shamefully weak reactions from world governments and the United Nations to the massacre in Gaza, what is heartening is that citizens from around the world, ordinary Earthlings, have expressed their shock and anger at the massacre perpetrated by the murderous Zionist state backed by the killer Bush regime.

Huge anti-Israel rallies have been organised in the U.S., the chief collaborator in the murders taking place in the Middle-East. In massive marches against the massacre in Gaza, protestors shouted slogans like “Free Free Palestine”, “Stop the massacre in Gaza”, “End the occupation of Palestine”, “Long Live Gaza” and “Not another nickel, not another dime; No more money for Israel’s crime”:

In addition to the Islamic world, protests have taken place from Argentina to Canada, from Japan to India and from Greece to Iceland, all across Europe:

I found this protest by Jews who are opposed to the crimes of the Zionist state very heartening:

Shame on Israel! Shame on the American government and other governments across the world that passively take part in this massacre by failing to stop it! Shame on the worthless United Nations! Shame on the Mubarak regime in Egypt that keeps the border with Gaza closed! And shame on all the vile, barbaric sadists who gleefully support state terrorism! Terrorism is the child of state terrorism and oppression. As long as state terrorism and oppression exist in this world, terrorism will continue to grow by leaps and bounds. What goes around comes around and those who unleash violence and oppression will have to face the effects of their own actions for generations to come.

Israel unleashes state terrorism on Gaza

At the end of a ceasefire with Hamas in the Gaza Strip, under the pretext of stopping home made rockets being fired on Israel, the Zionist state, with the backing of the United States of America, has unleashed state terrorism on Gaza. Israel had already turned Gaza into the largest open air prison in the world with its illegal economic blockade of Gaza. Having been crippled by a severe shortage of food, medicines, fuel, electricity and other essential commodities, Gazans are now being subjected to aerial bombardment of their small piece of land, one of the most densely populated areas in the world.

The humanitarian situation in Gaza is extremely terrible. Hundreds of civilians have been killed in the aerial bombardment and thousands have been wounded. Hospitals have been overwhelmed by the influx of severely injured patients and are struggling to cope due to the lack of medicines, electricity, fuel (to run generators), oxygen and water. The border with Egypt still remains closed. The international community remains a mute witness to the terrible suffering of the people of Gaza.

I re-post an article by Sameh Akram Habeeb, a Palestinian friend who lives in Gaza. Sameh is a photojournalist, peace activist and a humanitarian worker in Gaza. He gives a chilling account of the war on Gaza.

Day 6 of Israeli War On Gaza: More suffocating bombings claim lives of children, women

The scale of Israeli war escalated today by hitting more targets in various places across the occupied Gaza. The army opened the new year with more military fatal actions in Gaza leaving more people dead. Trauma cases raise up and more people are suffering from the air raids.

Many facets of harmed people can be found in Gaza. You either find a hit house with a dead one of the family or a hit house in which its residents traumatized and panics.

Buildings in Gaza lie in ruins due to Israeli bombardment . . .

Casualties of Israeli heavy bombings reached 415 while wounded rise up to 2100 persons. Many wounded are in critical condition and there is no ability to respond to their deteriorated cases.

Israeli Foreign Affairs Minister, Tsivi Livini, declared that Israel is only targeting Hamas members indicating that Gaza doesn’t suffer from any shortages of humanitarian needs. However, the incoming humanitarian needs are not enough for the populations amounted of 1.5 million.

United nation debunks the allegation of Mrs. Livini and says the incoming materials are not enough. Gaza needs 100 vans of flour. Karin Abu zaid the general commissioner of UNRWA said also that around 20 thousand people face troubles in getting the food supplies.
