Madiba is one of the greatest leaders to have walked upon the Earth. Everyone knows about his struggle against the despicable system of racial segregation and discrimination called apartheid and his role in building a democratic South Africa. He is not power hungry and left the stage after a single term as the President of South Africa. Even after retirement from politics, he has always fought for issues that are close to his heart - Truth and Reconciliation in South Africa, the fight againt HIV/AIDS and Human Rights. What makes him a great human being and a true patriot is that he acknowledged the Human Rights violations by his own party during the anti-apartheid struggle in order to assist the Truth and Reconciliation process in his beloved country. Even on his 90th birthday, he has spoken about the need to fight poverty and inequality and has criticised rich and powerful South Africans for not doing enough to help their less fortunate fellow citizens. Madiba is also a strong supporter of Ubuntu.

Madiba is a person who will fight injustice and disgusting systems and practices till his very last breath! The Earth needs many more true world leaders and great human beings like Madiba! Belated birthday wishes, Madiba!!!

Bastille Day

France celebrated Bastille Day (Fête Nationale or quatorze juillet) on July 14. It commemorates the 1790 Fête de la Fédération, held on the first anniversary of the storming of the Bastille on 14 July 1789, a very important event during the French Revolution.

The fortress-prison Bastille, a symbol of despicable tyranny, was stormed on July 14, 1789 . . .

I consider the French Revolution to be the greatest Revolution in the history of humankind. It was the Revolution that abolished a filthy oppressive feudal system lorded over by tyrants who were determined to crush the uprising of the oppressed people by any means, including inviting foreign armies to invade France. The tyrants who were a part of the oppressive system and many others were killed at the guillotine. The brutal executions at the guillotine were the saddest part of the French Revolution, but they were to be expected in the 18th century. The French Revolution has inspired many Revolutions around the world where filthy oppressive systems were abolished and scum beings who exploited the oppressed people were overthrown. The French Revolution gave the noble ideas of Liberty, Equality and Fraternity to the world. The French Revolution also played a very important part in establishing the inalienable rights of human beings and citizens - Human Rights in modern parlance. It also laid the foundations for social democracy - the system that has enabled the European countries (and others that are wise enough to adopt a similar system) lead the world in every development parameter.

May the French Revolution continue to inspire Revolutions around the world! Filthy systems and concepts that keep people oppressed deserve to be abolished and evil scum beings who use their power to exploit the oppressed deserve to be overthrown by violent means, if necessary. Long live the noble ideas of the French Revolution! Long live the beautiful concepts of Liberty, Equality, Fraternity and Human Rights!

Go, Musharraf, Go!

The Pakistan President, Gen. (retd.) Pervez Musharraf, seems to be determined to stay in his post despite calls by many sections asking him to resign and go into exile. The former military ruler, now civilian President, knows that his days in the top post are numbered. It would be better for him to quit on his own rather than face the prospect of being impeached by the National Assembly (the Parliament of Pakistan).

Read all the latest news about the fate of the former military ruler. The media in Pakistan has concluded that the President and the current Parliament cannot co-exist. There have been startling revelations that, in exchange for millions of dollars, the President allowed his own countrymen to be put in the notorious prison at Guantanamo Bay to be subjected to severe torture. I am surprised that the tyrant is still the President of Pakistan. He should have been thrown out immediately after the elections.

Better late than never!
