Dear Earthlings,
There was something about my blogs that was bothering me. Now I have decided to fix it!
You are welcome to be a copycat! ๐

Despite the fact that I try to promote free and open source software and despite the fact that most of the pictures and videos on this blog are not my own, I was trying to protect my posts by copyright ๐ฆ Not any longer! Everything on this blog is now COPYLEFTED! ๐
In case anyone wants to copy any post or any part of it, you are welcome to do so without asking me. While it would be great if you could provide a link back to this blog, even that is not necessary. As my blogs are about spreading ideas and thoughts and information, I realise the futility of trying to “protect” them when I want to spread them. I was also inspired by this post on my friend’s blog. Thank you, Axinia! ๐
There is no more copyright,
The name of the game is copyleft,
So go ahead and be a copycat! ๐ ๐
A few copyscape buttons may still exist on some posts. I’ll remove them as soon as possible.
Raj,you shouldn’t allow this!why do you let them take what you made? How ever little effort you have put it in,this is yours and they don’t have a right to take it!
copycat and copylifet – what a great terms ๐
sounds so lovely!
copycat and copyleft – btw, these are the terms that normally a person should get copyrighted!!! ๐
I find this new development of yours is really great.
Vishesh,
Though I post the videos and pictures taken by others (with due acknowledgement, of course), I do put in a lot of effort and spend a lot of time to write my posts. But what is the use of “protecting” them? I could as well have written them in a diary and kept them to myself. These are ideas, thoughts and questions that are meant to reach as wide an audience as possible. In other words, these ideas are much more important than the person to whom they belong (An alien Earthling). My posts are like messages. As long as people get the message I want to convey, it does not matter in the least who conveys them.
Moreover, the copyright protection symbol stuck out like a sore thumb on my blog among advocacy buttons for free and open source software.
Leftward Ho! ๐

Thank you, Axinia! You can say that I’m a copycat as I copied your idea ๐ ๐
copycat – sooooo sweet!
Great terms ‘copylefted’ and ‘become a copycat’ Raj ๐
Loved your attitude. Great ๐ I am also copylefting my blog ๐
A very happy diwali wishes to you from me ๐
well, why did you copyrighted your blog on the first place?
There is no use, right?
we find new ways to protect but they find new ones to copy..ah! how can we think they ren’t progressing like us…
Axinia,
Cats are always sweet animals! ๐

Kanagu,
Thanks! ๐ I’m glad that you are copylefting your blog ๐

Aneesh,
Yes, I did try to “protect” it by copyright ๐ฆ But I realised the futility of doing so. It’s all a part of the learning process ๐

Priya,
The web is not a good place to “protect” one’s articles as it’s so easy to copy.
There is one thing with knowledge – More you share, more it grows. I appreciate the spirit with which this was done. But I heard that there is one issue with that – If the entire article is copied by multiple websites, Google may blacklist them and your’s could also be in that group. But as you mentioned, it is quite futile to protect by copyrighting on the web.
Destination Infinity
Thanks, Destination Infinity ๐ Yes, I’m aware that the page rank may get affected if there are too many sites with exactly the same content ๐ฆ But even when I had the copyright protection symbol, there were copies of my posts on some blogs ๐ฆ
